And they proved all of that by building some of the most amazing hotels one can find on our planet. My personal favourite is the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara. The way it merges its environment with the overall design is something that I have not seen before and the service is simply superlative. Having miles and miles of untouched coastline, the UNESCO protected Wadi’s and some stunning mudbrick architecture and killer sunsets, Oman is a fantastic destination during the winter period.
And last but not least, Thailand. And while that might not be the first place one tends to think about during the winter I can assure you that our friends from the land of smiles have more than enough to offer. The weather is a real treat during the winter months and there’s plenty to see and do. From beach-bumming in Phuket or Koh Samui to the cultural richness on offer in Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya. The perfect mix for a winter escape!
The Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar resort is located above a massive canyon, providing a picturesque backdrop to many rooms where you can even dine right on the edge of this natural wonder. This place is truly distinctive, and even the late Princess Diana visited to savor the views and everything Oman had to offer.
Bora Bora is a tropical island paradise that captivates people from the moment they hear its name. Often likened to the Maldives, it stands out with the imposing Mount Otemanu that towers over the entire atoll, offering multiple experiences for guests staying at the surrounding resorts.
When it comes to accommodations in this slice of paradise, there are plenty of options to choose from. If I had to decide, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose the St-Regis for its beautiful villas (both on land and overwater), outstanding dining options, and incredible experiences for both adults and children.
As can be seen, there is a multitude of options beyond the typical winter destinations, so it’s just a matter of aligning your travel desires with the right destination.
