Popcorn can be an ideal snack for the whole family, as long as it is prepared correctly at home. See what exactly you will do.

Popcorn is an excellent snack that even nutritionists recommend as part of a balanced diet, provided it is prepared correctly. Derived from corn, it is a low-calorie cereal  that provides the body with important minerals, B vitamins , protein and fiber.

Specifically, according to nutritionist Vana Krondiris , a cup of popcorn has only 30 calories , if it has been prepared at home with a little pure virgin olive oil.

Now you tell me, does the hot, crispy and buttery movie theater popcorn taste the same with plenty of salt? We bet if you follow the steps below, you’ll be able to make it at home even better ? You don’t need a special device. With the following recipe you will easily make it in the pot.

Homemade popcorn in the pot

Make perfect popcorn at home without a machine

What you will need (for 1 large bowl):

  • 100 gr. organic popcorn kernels
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (a good quality unscented coconut oil is also recommended )
  • Salt (ideally salt flower in a smaller amount)
  • 1 large, deep saucepan

What are you going to do:

  1. Put the pot on the stove and heat the olive oil on high heat for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the corn kernels, shake the pot so that they spread all over the bottom and are completely covered with the olive oil and close the lid.
  3. In 2-3 minutes the corn should start to “pop” and become a white flake, and this will continue for a few more minutes. You can shake the pot one more time.
  4. When the sound of popping corns stopped, he withdrew the pot from sight and opened the lid.
  5. Sprinkle with a little salt and shake the pot again to get it all around.
  6. Serve hot in a large bowl.

Tip: For more flavor you can sprinkle with paprika, oregano or even cinnamon!
