Three very easy (and free) ways to help your stomach if you’ve overdone it with food and are about to… burst.

You came home tired and you hadn’t cooked. As expected, you chose the easy solution of ready-made food. So as you were hungry and the stomach was stuck in the back, you ate an entire pizza by yourself. Does this scenario sound familiar?

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one falling into the trap. Who are we to judge you when we’re still trying to digest skewers that were eaten almost whole?

However, there are ways – and even free – that will help you feel a little better.

Balance it out with vegetables

Even if your last meal (or last meals) was larger than usual, you cannot fast for the rest of the day . You will need to eat something. Especially if you’re feeling bloated, it’s a good time to focus on nutritious foods that are light, refreshing and full of water , like vegetables and fruits .

Drink plenty of water

There is a little myth that says that we don’t drink water with our food, because it burdens our stomach. But, as the Mayo Clinic reports, there is no evidence that water dilutes digestive fluids or interferes with the digestion process . In fact, water during or after a meal helps the body break down and process food.

Water can also help organs like the kidneys remove toxins from the body.

Massage your stomach

And yet, a stomach massage can help if you’ve overindulged in food. A review of studies published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine concluded that abdominal massage is a safe and effective form of treatment for many digestive problems .

How will you give yourself an abdominal massage ? The University of Michigan has put out a relevant guide, according to which: You start on the right side of the stomach (in the area where the right hip bone is located), move up and continue to the left side, ending at the left hip bone. You do slow and gentle movements for two to three minutes.

However, always consult your doctor before trying a new home remedy, because e.g. if you are pregnant this solution is not suitable for you .
