Do you have tuna in a can or jar? See three very easy, nutritious and delicious dishes that you can prepare in no time!
Canned tuna is one of the healthiest sources of protein, offering “good fat” with few calories. Of course, fresh fish is always preferable, but for a quick meal, on those weeknights when we are too tired to cook, it can be the basis for very easy and nutritious recipes.
After clarifying how to choose packaged tuna from the supermarket shelf, and whether fillets in oil or in water are preferable , we now have three perfect tuna recipes that we are sure you will enjoy.
Tuna salad dip
I love tuna salad dip because it’s so easy to make and with some multi-seed crackers it can be the perfect dinner for movie nights.
Ingredients (for one large bowl)
- filleted tuna in water (approx. 150 g), drained
- ½ cup 2% strained yogurt
- ½ cup low-fat mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp caper
- 1 tbsp freshly cut dill
- 2-3 pickles, chopped
- 1 boiled egg, chopped
- salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Implementation
Mix all the ingredients well, so that they are mixed and homogenized. Serve with multi-seed crackers.
Tacos with tuna
My kids love this “Mexican” recipe, mostly for the crunchy tacos and the fact that it’s eaten with your hands .
Ingredients (for 4 tacos)
- 1 pack of tacos (you’ll find them packaged at the supermarket)
- 1 jar of tuna in water
- 2 tbsp 2% strained yogurt or sour cream
- 2 tbsp low-fat mayonnaise
- ¼ cup onion, chopped
- ¼ cup coriander, chopped
- ½ cup tomato, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp olive oil
Implementation
He heated the tuna in a pan, so that the water was completely drained.
In a deep bowl, mix the yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon, olive oil.
In another bowl, mix the onion with the tomato and the coriander.
Start filling the tacos with some tuna first, the yogurt sauce next and finish with the onion, tomato and cilantro.
Tuna meatballs
Delicious meatballs for a quick lunch, which you don’t even need to fry! You can either bake them in the air fryer or in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for half an hour.
Ingredients (for 10 meatballs)
- 300 gr. tuna in water, drained
- 2 tbsp onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- ¾ cup cheddar, grated
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- salt and pepper
Implementation
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well until smooth.
Make sure the mixture is thick enough to form into tight balls. If not, add some more breadcrumbs.
Form the balls, “roll” each one in breadcrumbs that you have spread on a baking sheet, and they are ready for frying or baking in the air fryer.
